What to do in an emergency

***Note that on January 1, 2019 Yale will transition its travel assistance provider from UHC Global to International SOS.***

MEDICAL EMERGENCY:

  1. Where serious injury or illness has occurred, immediately seek medical treatment at the closest medical facility and, if relevant, notify your in-country program staff right away.
  2. Alert Yale’s travel assistance provider to your emergency.  They will notify the Yale University Office of International Affairs, Risk Management Office, Yale Health, and, if relevant, your program:
    • Before January 1, 2019:  contact UnitedHealthcare Global for assistance (click link or call collect +1-410-453-6330);
    • From January 1, 2019:  contact International SOS for assistance (call collect +1-215-942-8478).
  3. Notify your personal health care provider of your medical treatment.  If you are a member of Yale Health, note that Yale Health will receive notification of the case directly from Yale’s travel assistance provider and can reach out to you as necessary.  In an emergency, always seek treatment first.
